5 Simple Steps To A Perfect Fennel Roasted Chicken

Fennel seeds are grown in many places. A highly expensive fennel pollens or fennel seeds which have an aromatic flavor to it have relatively long cooking times and can be classed as a slightly complicated dish.

By nature, fennel is an herb which form a bulb-like structure. Primarily used in Mediterranean to add flavor to fish dishes, they are also grown in much of the Asian sub-continent. The dialects in places where it is grown has given it variety of names.

Compared to wild fennel seeds, cultivated fennel is used in culinary purposes.

The cultivated fennel seeds are used for a variety of purposes. It is best to have it cooked with chicken for tenderness.

In this article I'm going to show you how to cook a chicken dish and add fennel to it.

The result is going to be awesome. And the smell? Superb! Simply put, the combination of taste, aroma and looks of the dish will be... wow!

Obviously when preparing any dish, the ingredients need to be good. Especially, when talking about a chicken dish being prepared with fennel, the basic ingredients would of course be chicken and fennel and other "secret ingredients" that I have learned through out the years .

With good chicken available in abundance in the market, I recommend the following two options:

1) Use all the drumsticks and thighs when you are cooking the dish as these will brilliantly add flavor to fennel. Cooking time of the dish can be reduced to a good 10 minutes if you remove the drumstick from high at the joint.

2) Use the sharpest knife that you have to cut the whole portion of the chicken. If you do this, ensure that you cut the drumsticks and thighs as well so that it will be cooked in no time. I don't like the chicken to be dried out. I highly recommend that you remove the breast early to prevent this from happening.

-- Fennel Roasted Chicken --

~ 1 whole (about 3-pound) chicken, cut up, or about 3 pounds drumsticks and thighs

~ 1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil, or as needed

~ 2 bulbs fennel, trimmed and cut into 1/4 inch thick slices

~ Chopped fresh parsley leaves for garnish

~ Lemon wedges

~ Salt and freshly ground black pepper

(1) Heat oven to 400F. Drizzle bottom of shallow roasting pan or baking sheet with about half the olive oil and cover it with a layer of the fennel.

(2) Overlap pieces if necessary but use whole pan. Drizzle remaining oil over fennel and sprinkle with salt and pepper.

(3) Roast about 10 minutes. Meanwhile, cut up chicken if necessary and sprinkle the pieces with salt and pepper.

(4) Top fennel with the chicken parts, skin side up. Ideally, you'll have a layer of fennel pretty much covered by a layer of chicken, but it's fine if some of the fennel roasts uncovered.

(5) Spoon some of the oil from bottom of pan over chicken. Roast about 15 minutes, then baste chicken with pan drippings and rotate the pan. If necessary, adjust oven temperature so chicken browns but does not burn.

The chicken will be done in about 30 minutes. Serve each piece with some fennel and a little of the pan juices spooned over, garnished with parsley and a lemon wedge.

Dinner is ready! Bring everyone and enjoy.

Herb Broiled Chicken And Onion On A Pita

SERVES :8

Ingredients:

2 Chickens,about 2 to 3 lbs.each,cut into quarters
1 c Olive oil
1 c Dry white wine
1 lg Clove garlic,crushed
1 tsp Crumbled dried thyme
Salt and Freshly ground black pepper to taste
4 md Onions,sliced
1 c Pine nuts
8 Herbed Zahter Pitas

Instructions:

1. Lay the chicken quarters in a large glass or pottery baking dish. Combine 3/4 cup of the oil, wine, garlic, thyme, salt and pepper in a small bowl.
   
2. Blend well and pour over the chicken.
   
3. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator, turning the pieces occasionally, for several hours or overnight.
   
4. Preheat the broiler.
   
5. Remove the chicken from the marinade, reserving the marinade.
   
6. Broil, skin side down, 7 to 8" from the heat for about 30 minutes.
   
7. Turn and brush with the marinade.
   
8. Broil until tender, 15 to 30 minutes longer.
   
9. Meanwhile, heat the remaining oil in a large skillet.
   
10. Add the onions and pine nuts.
    
11. Saute over medium heat until the onions are light yellow and the pine nuts are golden, about 8 to 10 minutes.
    
12. Spoon some of the onions and nut mixture on the tops of the pitas.
    
13. Top each with a broiled chicken quarter.

Acne is defined as a diseased condition of the skin that involves the hair and oil glands. The symptoms are pimples, black and or white heads, reddishness and cysts. Acne and pimples on the Face can spoil your appearance and body acne can be very uncomfortable. Some people regard acne as a minor problem, and disregard the importance of pimple skin care.

Pimple skin care should really start before pimples actually appear. Pimple skin care is more about being proactive than reactive, and being aware of preventive measures. A daily skin care routine should be followed religiously.

Pimple skin care starts with the most basic thing - cleanliness. So morning showers are the most basic way of keeping the skin clean. In fact, a lot of people take night showers too, which not only helps keep your skin clean but also provides relaxation which leads to a good nights sleep. If you are living in a hot and humid place, a night shower becomes a must. In fact, a shower is recommended after any activity that causes high levels of sweat to develop. It’s a very effective pimple skin care technique.

However, skin care is not about just showers, it is also about wearing clean clothes and sleeping on clean pillows. Moreover, too tight clothes can cause sweat to accumulate quickly; so soft and comfortable cotton clothing is recommended, especially if you already suffer from acne. Making sure you only use clean face washers, and make-up brushes on your face and body is also important in pimple skin care.

Besides that, you should only use a mild, water-soluble, oil-free and soap-free cleanser for keeping your face, neck and arms clean. Cleansing is the most important part of any pimple skin care routine. Cleaners are the easiest and the most effective way of removing dirt, grease, pollutants and excess oil from your skin; thus reducing the probability of acne occurrence.

If you already have pimples, do not touch or squeeze them; it can lead to permanent scars. Pimple skin care is about gentle cleansing and cleaning of the affected area using a recommended skin care product and a clean/soft cotton pad. There are various pimple skin care creams and lotions available. Many of these acne skin care products are actually cleansers. However, if these pimple skin care measures do not give you the results you would like, then it is advisable to contact a dermatologist.
