Crafting Web Copy that Works

Internet businesses experience low ranking at one time or another. The cause is unclear, but there is a solution. With a little brush up, our websites can generate the traffic they once did. All it takes is an understanding of how search engines work, and the creation of words that drive target traffic to your site.

To keep with the times, businesses need a web copy writer on board that is highly experienced in SEO (Search Engine Optimized) keywords. If you're creative enough, you can take a stab at it yourself. Use caution though, you want the content to be rich in keywords but not overpowering.

A few tips to consider...

First, whatever you already know about writing, forget.
Web copy needs to be written in a conversational style so fragments and sentences ending in prepositions are fine.

Try using a font that is easy on the eyes. Webmasters tend to prefer Times New Roman, Verdana, or Arial. Also, the content should flow.

Search Engine Optimization Friendly

The rule of thumb when writing SEO web copy is, "less is nearly always more." Since most Internet surfers scan over the content on a website for important points, it makes sense to keep your paragraphs short and direct. Toss out the fancy phrases that make you sound like a snob. Stick to the basic command of the English Language.

Headings:~6 to 8 words
Sentences:~15 to 20 words
Paragraphs:~no less then 3 lines, no more then 5 lines Web page word count: 350 words

The keyword dilemma is a never ending vicarious cycle that leaves you feeling numb at times. What are keywords? Who will use these keywords? What search engines should I use? And the list goes on.

Google or Yahoo (search engines) use the text (keyword/ keyword phrase) typed in the search box to locate websites.

For instance, if you're looking for a maid, you would type the words "maid service", "maid", or "housecleaner" in the search engine. The search engine then finds all of the websites associated with that word. Keyword positioning on your web page will determine how fast the search engines locate your site.

So before beginning, create a list of words that could be associated with the services or products you offer. These words or phrases need to be realistic. An experienced content writer can work in the keywords and phrases with the greatest of ease.

You need to concentrate on your home page. Headings should have at least 5 words but no more than 8. Make certain that your keywords are positioned within the header as it will increase your odds.

Remember that the home page is like a sales letter so be sure that it is simple to read and still concise. Talking like you would to a friend, introduce the reader to your business. Remember to also embed the content with your keywords so that the copy flows.

Mistakes to Avoid

It takes a lot of time and practice to craft seo friendly web copy. Many writers will start writing seo articles without a clear understanding of the nature of keywords and how they are used by search engines. It is common for beginners to concentrate too much on the keywords and they wind up with unreadable copy that ultimately drives surfers away.

Remember to write about the benefits as opposed to the features of the products or services you sell. People always want to know what is in it for them if they choose to buy from you so focus content on this objective.

Always remember to edit your copy because things like grammatical or spelling errors make you seem unprofessional. It is a good idea to have someone else look over your work.

Web pages are little more than a connected chain of information. Every page prods visitors into probing deeper into your site with the ultimate goal being to convince them to buy from you. If the search engines are not directing people to your site, you will never have a chance to tell people about your great company and what it has to offer them.

Article Writing & Submission: Are You Writing & Submitting Articles the Right Way or the Wrong Way?

There are two ways to write and submit your articles. But, only one of those ways will build targeted website traffic, increase your own hyper-responsive list of prospects, provide you with instant credibility and help you sell more books, products and services. The only things you will get from the other way are links and frustration from a lack of sales and traffic.

Here's How Most People Write & Submit Articles the Wrong Way

1. They write and submit the same old regurgitated content that's all over the web.
   
   This doesn't this differentiate you from your competitors?
   
   If you want your articles to be a success you must research your competitors and know exactly what they offer and what they don't. You must read forums, blogs, social networking sites and major online publications to see exactly what people are talking about now. If you don't you won't be able to differentiate yourself. You won't pick a popular topic. Most importantly, you won't be able to spark a controversy that sells.
   
   
2. They only submit articles to article directories.
   
   When most people submit articles they hire a cheap article submission service like Virtual Article Assistants that submits articles to just the top article directories.
   
   However, this will not build your list of targeted prospects and will not help you sell more books, products and services to a niche audience. And, this definitely, will not boost your credibility. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to send an email blast letting everyone know I'm on EzineArticle.com. No offense, but anyone can have their articles published on article directories as long as you follow their guidelines.

3. Write an article that sells your unique selling proposition. Basic Steps to Audio Streams

With the event of multimedia proliferating in the Internet, business people have seen the potential of audio streaming as one element to entice people to keep visiting a site and therefore produce and generate more traffic on it. However, not all net users are accustomed or would ever want to be hearing these audio streaming files being played while browsing on the site. It is in this note that the techniques below are presented to make some useful suggestions on how to effectively create and use audio streaming on a site.

• Incorporate audio streaming files that are generally accepted by mass visitors like personal testimonials. When visitors of the site hear the personal voices of those who are providing the testimonial, then you can be at least assured that they would listen to it.
  
  
  
• You can embed also some personal greeting file on your site when someone visits the site. You may want to include this personal greeting on the homepage to make sure that all visitors get to be welcomed and greeted.
  
  
  
• Do not overdo your audio streaming files on your sites like putting too much audio files on various forms like music, pre-recorded voices and a lot more. Not all people would want to hear all these different audio files neither they will appreciate your choice of audio files.
  
  
  
• If your site is engaged into sending communications with your clients, you may opt at sending electronic greeting cards with audio files on it from time to time to make sure that you are tying your relationship with your clients. You may also want to include your pre-recorded voice if you do not want a per-made audio file.
