There is a nasty virus out and about. It will completely erase your hard drive

QUOTE OF THE DAY: Heaven's Grocery Store
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was walking down life's highway a long time ago.
One day I saw a sign that read, "Heaven's Grocery Store."
As I got a little closer the door came open wide,
and when I came to myself I was standing inside.
I saw a host of Angels, they were standing everywhere.
One handed me a blanket and said, "My Child shop with care."
Everything a Christian needs is in that grocery store,
and all you can't carry, come back the next day for more.
First, I got some Patience, Love was in the same row.
Further down was Understanding, needed everywhere you go.
I got a box or two of Wisdom, a bag or two of Faith,
I just couldn't miss the Holy Ghost, it was all over the place.
I stopped to get some Strength and Courage to help me run this race,
but then my blanket was getting full, and I remembered I needed
Grace.
I didn't forget Salvation, which like the others was free,
so I tried to get enough of that to save both you and me.
Then I started to the counter to pay my grocery bill,
for I thought I had everything to do my master's will.
As I went up the aisle, I saw Prayer and had to put it in,
for I knew when I stepped outside, I would run right into sin.
Peace and Joy were plentiful, they were on the last shelf.
Song and Praises were hanging near, so I just helped myself.
Then I said to the Angel, "How much do I owe?"
The Angel smiled and said, "Just take them everywhere you go."
Again, I politely asked "How much do I really owe?"
The Angel smiled again and said, "My Child, Jesus Paid Your Bill
A Long Time Ago."
GUEST ARTICLE: Will we ever be responsible for ourselves again?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You may not like his politics but Rush hit this one on target 2X
Love him or loath him, he nailed this one right on the head.............
By Rush Limbaugh:
I think the vast differences in compensation between victims of the September 11 casualty and those who
die serving the country in Uniform are profound. No one is really talking about it either, because you just don't
criticize anything having to do with September 11. Well, I just can't let the numbers pass by because it says
something really disturbing about the entitlement mentality of this country. If you lost a family member in the
September 11 attack, you're going to get an average of $1,185,000. The range is a minimum guarantee of
$250,000, all the way up to $4.7 million.
If you are a surviving family member of an American soldier killed in action, the first check you get is a $6,000
direct death benefit, half of which is taxable. Next, you get $1,750 for burial costs. If you are the surviving spouse,
you get $833 a month until you remarry. And there's a payment of $211 per month for each child under 18. When
the child hits 18, those payments come to a screeching halt.
Keep in mind that some of the people who are getting an average of $1.185 million up to $4.7 million are complaining
that it's not enough. Their deaths were tragic, but for most, they were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Soldiers put themselves in harms way FOR ALL OF US, and they and their families know the dangers.
We also learned over the weekend that some of the victims from the Oklahoma City bombing have started an
organization asking for the same deal that the September 11 families are getting. In addition to that, some of the families
of those bombed in the embassies are now asking for compensation as well.
You see where this is going, don't you? Folks, this is part and parcel of over 50 years of entitlement politics in this
country. It's just really sad. Every time a pay raise comes up for the military, they usually receive next to nothing of a raise.
Now the green machine is in combat in the Middle East while their families have to survive on food stamps and live in
low-rent housing. Make sense?
However, our own U.S. Congress just voted themselves a raise, and many of you don't know that they only have to
be in Congress one time to receive a pension that is more than $15,000 per month, and most are now equal to being millionaires
plus. They also do not receive Social Security on retirement because they didn't have to pay into the system.
If some of the military people stay in for 20 years and get out as an E-7, you may receive a pe nsion of $1,000 per month,
and the very people who placed you in harm's way receive a pension of $15,000 per month. I would like to see our elected
officials pick up a weapon and join ranks before they start cutting out benefits and lowering pay for our sons and daughters
who are now fighting.
"When do we finally do something about this?" If this doesn't seem fair to you, it is time to forward this to as many people
as you can.If your interested there is more..................
This must be a campaign issue in 2004. Keep it going. SOCIAL SECURITY:
(This is worth the read. It's short and to the point.)
Perhaps we are asking the wrong questions during election years. Our Senators and Congressmen do not pay into Social Security.
Many years ago they voted in their own benefit plan. In more recent years, no congressperson has felt the need to change it.
For all practical purposes t heir plan works like this:
When they retire, they continue to draw the same pay until they die, except it may increase from time to time for cost of living
adjustments. For example, former Senator Byrd and Congressman White and their wives may expect to draw $7,800,000 -
that's Seven Million, Eight Hundred Thousand), with their wives drawing $275,000.00 during the last years of their lives.
This is calculated on an average life span for each.
Their cost for this excellent plan is $00.00. These little perks they voted for themselves is free to them. You and I pick up
the tab for this plan.
The funds for this fine retirement plan come directly from the General Fund--our tax dollars at work! From our own Social
Security Plan, which you and I pay (or have paid) into -- every payday until we retire (which amount is matched by our employer)
--we can expect to get an av erage $1,000 per month after retirement. Or, in other words, we would have to collect our average
of $1,000 monthly benefits for 68 years and one month to equal Senator Bill Bradley's benefits!
Social Security could be very good if only one small change were made. And that change would be to jerk the Golden Fleece
Retirement Plan from under the Senators and Congressmen. Put them into the Social Security plan with the rest of us and then
watch how fast they would fix it.
If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of awareness will be planted and maybe good changes will evolve. WE, each one
of us... can make a difference..
How many people can YOU send this to?

Beat wash day blues with laundry systems analysis
by Cynthia Townley Ewer, Editor
http//www.OrganizedHome.Com
Systems analysis. So weighty. So professional. So mysterious. Yet nothing can streamline an organized
home like a well-crafted set of household systems. Today in OrganizedHome.Com, we focus on laundry and
clothing systems. What do they do? How do you develop them? What benefits will establishing laundry and
clothing systems give to you and your family?
Chances are, you already have these systems in place. After all, a system is just a set of organized items, decisions
or actions, designed to work together to achieve a common end. In terms of an organized home, a clothing system,
for example, would be a set of related decisions, actions or items, designed to work together to supply family members
with an adequate supply of clean, well-fitting and appropriate clothes.
However, there are systems, and there are systems. In a disorganized home, systems springs up unassisted. There's
no thought or planning underlying them, so they don't work particularly well. Most of the time, the steps of the system
are only instituted when things break down: there are no clean clothes, so someone does the wash. Yes, clothing gets
clean, eventually--but there's tremendous waste of time, money, resources and family harmony built into haphazard systems.
Does this scenario describe your household's laundry system?
It is the morning of a family outing with parent's in-laws.
Child appears at breakfast table in stained, torn clothing.
Parent orders child to change. Child replies that he has no clean clothes.
Parent charges up the stairs to child's room.
The floor is layered with strata of clean and dirty laundry.
Dresser drawers are stuffed with wadded clothes in various states of cleanliness and presentability.
Parent rummages through piles on floor, scrounges through dresser drawers, and locates a clean
(or fairly clean) and presentable outfit.
Parent orders child to put on substitute outfit.
Child complains.
Parent raises voice.
Child whines.
Veins stand out on the parental neck.
Child complies.
The ensemble is not a success. The trousers are the variety known as "high water pants."
The T-shirt sports a cracked and peeling cartoon logo. Child rolls eyes and thinks, but does not say, "I told you so!"
Parent receives child's message via telepathy. Parent winces but remains silent.
Co-parent arrives at breakfast table wearing wrinkled shirt from ironing basket and yesterday's trousers.
Co-parent's tie does not match either shirt or trousers. Co-parent slips out the door to work over the din of
family discord concerning child and child's outfit.
After breakfast, parent rifles through dryer, searching for presentable ensemble for self for outing.
Must run dryer 10 minutes to remove heat-set wrinkles. Having only five minutes for this task, parent dons semi-wrinkled jeans and top.
Hopes parents-in-law will forget their eyeglasses today.
The family is late to the outing. The in-laws, bless them, say nothing. Parent vows to do better . . . until next time.
Yes, this family has a system--but a spontaneous, haphazard one.
Clothing is not washed on a regular schedule.
Washing routines are interrupted, leaving clothes to sit in washer or dryer acquiring wrinkles and mildew.
Clothes are neither consigned to laundry collection points when dirty, nor put in convenient storage once clean.
Out-of-season, outgrown or outworn items crowd what storage is available, leaving little or no room to store garments currently in use.
New clothing is purchased on an unplanned, impulse basis--and at a higher price than necessary.
Because their system is so poorly planned and executed, this family loses time, money and harmony in the daily ritual of getting dressed.
It's these resources of time, money and harmony your family stands to gain when you develop household systems.
How do you craft a system to handle your family's clothing needs?
Begin with the end: the goal or outcome of the system.
A complete clothing system has this goal: the thrifty, efficient, and routine provision of clean, well-fitting and
appropriate clothing for each family member each day. In any household systems analysis, give some thought to
your own family's goal, and write it down. Beginning with the end in sight is the best way to make sure you arrive there!
Break down the goal into the necessary tasks, decisions and actions.
List them all! For your goal, write down each thing that must be done, large or small. Here are the basic tasks,
decisions and action for a household laundry system:
Dirty clothing is delivered to collection points each day
Dirty clothing is transferred to laundry area from collection points
Laundry area contains adequate supply of detergent, softener and stain treatments, as well as tools like washer,
dryer, iron and ironing board, hangers and hanging area. Supplies are replenished before they are exhausted.
Dirty clothing is sorted, laundered, dried and folded
Necessary ironing is done or delegated
Dry cleaning or professional laundry is delivered and collected each cycle
Clean clothing is returned to storage areas
The cycle is repeated on a regular basis
The third step: analysis
You know what you want and where you're going--the goal. You've got a handle on what needs to be done to
reach that goal--your task list. Now it's time to analyze your system for the breakdowns.
Our example family has several common sticking points in their laundry system. First, there's no clear "collection routine"
for dirty laundry. Dirty clothes aren't placed in a hamper or basket, but are left around at random. The family member
responsible for laundering the clothing has no set place to find dirty clothes, but must scour the house looking for them.
Second, laundry isn't done on a regular schedule. Instead of washing clothes before it is absolutely necessary, this family
plays a brinkmanship game, waiting until the last possible moment to start the laundry cycle. Result: tension, disruption,
family disharmony and no clean clothes.
Third, because the cycle isn't started regularly, it becomes a monstrous job, often left unfinished. Pants hung directly from the
dryer need no ironing. Pants left to sit in the dryer for three days will require pressing at a minimum, re-washing at worst. By
postponing the job, the family's workload mushrooms.
Fourth, the family's clothing storage areas are cluttered and inefficient. Because drawers are jammed, clean clothing ends up
on floors and furniture. Clothes are washed more than necessary, wearing them out prematurely--not to mention the wear and
tear on the family member who must try to climb the mountain that's formed in the laundry room.
What are your family's roadblocks to an efficient laundry system? Review the necessary tasks and decide what changes will
make your own system function smoothly. Will you need to purchase additional laundry baskets or hampers? Has Mt. Washmore
erupted in your laundry room, requiring a laundry marathon before you can institute your system? Your own situation will show a
mix of new routines and one-time catch-up chores.
Here's an idea of our family's laundry system analysis. It has two parts--the system, organized by time period, and the list of work
that will have to be completed to institute the system:
Household Clothing System:
Daily:
Family members place all dirty clothing in basket or hamper
Twice Weekly:
Collect, wash, dry, fold and replace laundered clothing Remove clean items in need of mending to mending basket
Weekly:
Check supply of detergent and laundry products; purchase replacements before the supply is exhausted Deliver any dry cleaning
or laundered items to cleaners and collect last week's dry cleaning or laundered items
Monthly:
Scan family calendar for events requiring special clothing For those events, check to make sure each family member has
appropriate clothing Mend contents of mending basket
Seasonally
:
Inventory each family member's clothing supply Cull clothing storage of worn out, outgrown or out-of-season garments List needed
items for each family member Purchase needed items, on sale
To Catch Up:
Purchase laundry basket or hamper for each family member Cull and organize each family member's clothing storage area,
removing outworn, outgrown, and out-of-season clothing. Store out-of-season clothing, children's clothing suitable for handing
down Marathon laundry session, extinguishing laundry mountain Hold family meeting to discuss new responsibilities, delegate tasks
Through their analysis, this family has overcome the "day late, dollar short" orientation that characterized their old clothing and
laundry systems. Now, to implement the analysis!
Last step: get cracking!
You've set your goal, listed the components of a basic system, performed your analysis and planned your system. Now it's time to get
to work. Enter all tasks, recurring or catch-up, in your planner, calendar or home management software.
If these are the bones of a basic family clothing system, remember, the musculature of that system can be shaped to fit any given family's needs.
A laundry system for a household with two pre-schoolers and an infant will be vastly more rigorous and time-consuming than one for an
empty-nest professional couple.
Growing children can, and should, be given an opportunity to learn these life-skills. Pre-schoolers can be trained to place dirty clothing
where it belongs, and can fold and replace socks and towels. Elementary school children can operate the washer and dryer and do basic
ironing chores with supervision. Teens can do all of the above, plus mending and more advanced ironing.
Do delegate clothing selection and purchase to your teen! A clothing allowance teaches appearance-oriented teens to budget like no
other learning experience. Don't rescue your teen when he blows his seasonal clothes allowance on that shoddy-but-fashionable logo jacket!
As he shivers his way through the autumn, he will learn some home truths about value and durability, and do better next quarter.
In the end, establishing a household system--for laundry or any other home task--means embracing a simple but profound truth. Even if you
ignore it, work does not go away.
Do any job efficiently and with forethought, and you'll be master of the task. To this end, a laundry system will serve you well, providing
clean clothes on a regular basis, without those anguished vigils at the side of the humming dryer.
Ignore this reality, and the task will master you. You'll dance to the tune of your family's laundry needs, running the dryer at 5:30 a.m.,
or squirming as your children attend events in mismatched or outgrown clothes.
Who will be boss? Time to establish your household's clothing systems and scale the top of Mt. Washmore. Excelsior!

GUEST ARTICLE: Learning The ABC's of Promotion!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Learning The ABC's of Promotion!
by Art Luff
There have been countless articles, ebooks, and websites
dedicated to the Do's and Don'ts of Web Promotion and I for one
am not going to try and disprove anyones Net Marketing
experience.
We all need to find our way out here. It can be difficult at times
hurdling through the hype and the Hey Read This and Hey
Don't Do That. If you don't Follow this You'll Fail. The list goes
on and on.
The intent of this article is to share with you what I have found
that has and is working for me. It is not, by any stretch of the
imagination, intended as a Carved In Stone formula for anyone
other than myself.
However, I would not be sharing this with you if I didn't believe
it could greatly improve your chances of making a go of it on the
World Wide Web.
I've still got alot to learn as do we all. My hope is to continue to
Learn and Grow as we trudge down the road to our individual
successes.
Having said that, Let's Get to It!
Now if we're going to promote on the Web it sure helps to know
what it is that we'll promote.
That may sound pretty dumb to some of you, Right? Not the way
I see it folks. What I see is 95% of those that come to the Web to
do business don't make it. It seems we flit from one associate
program to another. Never really comitting ourselves to any one
project. Basing our decisions or lack of one on How Much Money
in How short of time. So when there is no instant gratification, off
we go in search of Instant Success and Wealth. Only to face
disappointment and discontent. Eventually to disappear from the
Web. Just another 95% er.
I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings to some of you but, A
Decision plus a Commitment is required. We Have to decide What
We Want to Be when we grow up. Then we have to commit to it.
I mean "Come Hell or High Water" we don't quit. That make us
a bit uncomfortable. Especially if we never did it before. Getting
out of our Comfort Zone. What a concept. :-) So I guess you could
say,
"Step #1 is: Make a Decision an Stick to it."
Something happens when we do that. Almost too dificult to put
into words. I don't want to get off on some philisophical tangent
but It's almost as if the universe hears us and from that point on
we're just along for the ride! :-)
If your struggling trying to come up with an idea. I discovered an
ebook titled, "The Million Dollar Idea Generator." In order to get
this book you'll need to subscribe to a newsletter first. They both
are awesome publications and I can almost guarantee you will not
be disappointed. To subscribe go to:
http://www.internetgurureview.com Both are free and I have no
affiliation other than a subscriber.
Step #2
Now that we've made a decision and commited ourseves to it we
will need to find people to market our goods and services to. How?
Start a Newsletter or Ezine that focuses on some aspect of your
goods and services. Your subscribers are your target market.
It makes sense that it would be better to have 40 or 50 targeted
prospects than 100,000 untargeted prospects.
Setting up your list is not a monumental task. Pretty simple
actually. Just a matter of visiting the listserver site, answering a
few questions on a form and POOF! your a list owner.
If you want you can do a search for
free opt-in list hosts.
Step #3
Now that you've got your list host set up I assume you have a
Name for your publication. It's now time to let the world know
Who and What your about.
Don't worry about having a publication at this point. You can be
working on that in between your List Promotions.
First let me suggest that you visit:
http://www.ezineuniversity.com Take the courses in order. I
found this information to be invaluable. Utilize the tools and tips
they provide. You'll begin to build your subscriber base. By the
way. This service is also free.
Get used to using search engines to find what you need. Do a
search for announce lists. There are plenty. You can announce
your publication and pick up subscribers.
You can also visit "How to Publicize Your Ezine" at:
http://www.zinebook.com/publicz.html
Just full of information and useful tools and tips.
Step #4
What about content?
If you don't plan on writing articles for your publication there are
plenty of free article resource sites. In just about any category you
need. I'll list some below to get you started. If you need more you
can do a search for free ezine articles or articles by a particular
author. Use your imagination.
http://10000i.virtualave.net
http://www.ezinearticles.com
http://www.boconline.com
http://www.ideamarketers.com
http://www.marketing-seek.com
http://orlando.obp.com/articles
While we're on the subject of Articles.
If you get nothing else from this article Get This.
"WRITE ARTICLES" Write about what you know. Write about
your interests. Write about your hopes, dreams and wishes.
Whatever you want to. JUST WRITE!
In no time at all you will be labeled an expert in your field. You
will gain credibility. You will be listened to as someone who knows
what they're talking about. You will also be using on of the most
effective and far reaching methods of promotion on the web. Free!
You can submit them to the sites above, to other ezine publishers,
to search engines, article announce lists. Do a search for free
ezines contact the publishers and ask if they accept articles. If so,
Give it to them. At the end of every article you've got what's called
a Resource Box. It contains your name, alittle something about your
ezine, how to subscribe and of course your website address.
Well Folks I think we've covered quite alot here. It's going to take
a little work to apply these. I don't doubt your ability to handle a
little work.
So until then remember:
"Web Promotion Doesn't Have to be a Shot in the Dark!"
Childcare Appreciation
Interview after interview, in search for the highest quality childcare, you find the childcare provider that
is just right for you. After all the phone numbers dialed and “Sorry, I can’t take anymore children, all my
spots are filled.” Now, you want to keep that childcare provider!
On the other side of the fence, after months of paid advertising and no phone calls, you have filled your
daycare spots. Now you would like to keep those spots filled.
Establishing a good relationship among childcare provider and parents is the first step in the process.
That means respect toward one another. After all, you both have something in common - the welfare of your child!
Keeping the communication lines open and honesty are other important ongoing steps.
PARENTS: You know how difficult and challenging it is being a working parent. Now you need to try and
put yourself in your childcare provider’s shoes. Your childcare provider is also working, (most likely a working PARENT).
Here are some ways to show your childcare provider how much you appreciate a job well done:
1. Try not to be late in picking up your child. Do your best to pick up your child at the end of the day in a timely
manner. Not only for your provider who also has a schedule to keep, but for that little one who is waiting for you.
If you will be late, make a courtesy phone call.
2. Send her a card telling her how much you appreciate her.
3. Send her a card from your child telling her how much your child appreciates her.
4. If your child is scheduled for 5 days a week, pay your provider for those five days even if your child is in attendance
for all those days. Remember, your provider is trying to make a living the same as you are. Your spots are reserved
for you and if you don’t show up, your provider doesn’t get paid.
5. If you receive a holiday bonus at work, do something special for your provider. A cleaning service is
always a nice gesture, since childcare entails a lot of wear and tear on a home. As a working parent, my provider
received a bonus for each of the holidays that I received one. It was a small token of my appreciation.
6. Regard your childcare provider as a professional, not just a “babysitter”. Remember that because of your
childcare provider you are able to go to work with no worries and provide financial stability for your child and household.
PROVIDERS: You’re with children all day then you have a messy house to contend with only to get up and do it again
the next day, along with meal and activity planning. Try and remember that parents go through the same thing in regards
to working all day, except they DON’T see their children. They also have household chores to contend with as well as trying
to cram in quality time with their children that they didn’t get during the day. Here are some ways to show your daycare
parents how much you appreciate them:
1. Send your parents a card saying “thank you” for allowing you to care for their children.
2. Take extra photos of your daycare kids and give them to your parents out of the blue.
3. Invite your parents to be part of special events at your daycare “holiday parties, etc.”
4. Offer to keep a daily log of your daycare children’s activities to provide to the parents on a daily basis. For a few minutes
of your time each day, the parents will be very appreciative of this small extra service.
5. Try and be understanding if parents are late once in a while at pick up time. It’s not easy getting out of an office on
time every evening!
6. Remember that because of these parents you are able to run a successful stay at home business!
Written by Jodi L. Marvin, author of “Childcare Journal for Parents & Providers”,
a one-year childcare journal that allows parents to track their children’s well-being while
at daycare and aids in parent and childcare provider communication.
1.
Hens eating their eggs
It is a very hard habit to break once your chickens have got a taste for their own eggs. They will
devour them like a child does candy given the chance. So a very simple tip is to actually feed them
some rotten eggs. It makes them think twice before turning on their own clutch.
However it is also an idea to prevent the problem before it becomes a problem. A dietary supplement
of ground oyster shells will correct any mineral deficiency that may motivate the hens to turn on their
offerings. You can obtain ground oyster shells at any agricultural feed suppliers.
If you cannot get hold of ground oyster shells or would like to use an alternative then save the egg shells
that you use. Wash them clean and bake them in a hot oven for 20 minutes. When they have cooled grind
them up and add to the chickens food. This will achieve the same effect as the oyster shells.
The Ultimate Deception
The #1 cause of death today is not heart disease or cancer
Written by Dr. Helena Toth Hardy, N.D., C.N.C.,
Heart disease, cancer, stroke, diabetes and most of the other major killers in society today can
be classified as "diseases of the uninformed." They are nontheless lethal but only to those who have
not heard about prevention and natural cures. Unfortunately, this includes your loved ones and friends
as well as the great majority of the Western world.
“Heart disease kills nearly
1,000,000 Americans every year!
That's 2,600 Americans that die each day or
1 person every 33 seconds.”
American Heart Association
In the United States the number of people with chronic conditions is growing at an alarming rate. A chronic
condition is one that lasts a year or longer, limits what one can do and may require ongoing care. Examples of
chronic conditions are diabetes, cancer, glaucoma and heart disease. More than 125 million Americans have at
least one chronic condition and 60 million have more than one. (1)
In 2000, 20 million more people had one or more chronic conditions than the number originally estimated in 1996.
By 2020, the number of people living with chronic conditions is foreseen to rise to 157 million and direct medical
costs are expected to double to more than $1 trillion (80 percent of the nation's health care spending). (2)
We are living in the age of fast food, chemicals, and inactivity. Each day our bodies are exposed to deadly pesticides,
herbicides, preservatives, coloring agents, artificial sweeteners, hormones, antibiotics, environmental pollution, toxic
chemicals, food irradiation, genetic engineering, and countless other relatively new health hazards. Considering the
chemical-soup we live in, the above statistics are not surprising in the least.
The truth is it is becoming more and more expensive and difficult to avoid the exposure to deadly toxins in our food,
water and environment. Even sadder is the fact that most people don’t even know or care about the potential dangers
lurking around them. They blame their illnesses on factors beyond their control and refuse to take responsibility for their
own health. They rely on the newest “wonder drug” to erase all their troubles and continue treating their bodies like garbage
disposals. On the other end of the scale, a much smaller group of people are waking up and shunning the “marvels” of
modern society, turning instead towards holistic and natural living.
A world divided
I feel that in the decades to come, our world will become completely divided in two.
Some people will live their lives following the “mainstream” and eating only junk and processed foods served by
convenience while sitting like comatose before the T.V. set believing every word of the “unbiased” media. They will
build and furnish their houses with toxic materials, spray their yards with deadly pesticides, clean their homes with
hazardous chemicals, drink polluted water, feed their families dead poisonous foods, and take harmful drugs at the
first sign of their bodies rebelling against all the attacks. These people will be sick and lethargic, watch their children
suffer through childhood and school, and experience an early and painful death. These will be the patients of today
and tomorrow.
The other group, that is starting to emerge, will go completely against the grain in every respect. These people will build
and furnish their homes with natural materials, use organic cleaners and pesticides, eat wholesome organic foods, drink
pure water, spend a lot of time in the fresh air, engage in regular physical activity, and turn to nature when they’re ill. They
will be disease-free, happy, energetic, full of vitality and live a long and fulfilling life. Their children will be healthy, joyous,
fit and smart. These will be the healers of tomorrow – taking care of the others.
Patrick Holford, Director of the Institute for Optimum Nutrition in London and the author of the Optimum Nutrition Bible,
makes this point very clear:
"Tomorrow's medicine will not be about using nutrients instead of drugs. It will be about looking through a new pair of glasses
which reveal the true causes of disease. In most cases these lie in faulty nutrition, pollution, stress, negativity, addiction and lack
of exercise - the greatest cause of all being ignorance. The original meaning of the word 'doctor' is ‘teacher or learned man’
and that is perhaps the most important role a health professional can perform.”
Current research indicates that the foods we eat influence tremendously our susceptibility to cancer, heart disease and other
chronic health conditions. Generally, high fat, low-fiber, animal-based diets are thought to increase the risk, while plant-based diets -
high in fresh fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, and minimally processed starchy foods - can help prevent disease. But diet
is not the only factor. Degenerative diseases actually have three main causes: malnutrition, incomplete digestion and internal pollution.
These are reversed by nutrient enrichment, improved digestion, and regular detoxification.
Nutritional therapy is a holistic discipline; nutrition as the key to good health is the all-embracing fundamental principle used since
the time of the famous Greek doctor and founder of Western medicine, Hippocrates, to help people of all ages stay at their personal
peak of energy and vitality.
In our modern world the importance of optimum nutrition was reintroduced in 1968 by one of the greatest minds of this century,
twice Nobel-prize winner Linus Pauling. Pauling coined the term Orthomolecular Nutrition. "Orthomolecular" is, literally, "pertaining
to the right molecule". Pauling proposed that by giving the body the right molecules (optimum nutrition) most disease would be eradicated
"Imagine the publicity if someone announced that they have developed a new treatment that cured 40 percent of all people with cancer.
The media would be jumping up and down. That kind of benefit can be achieved today just by following a vegetarian diet. Right there
you have an answer and no one's listening."
-Oliver Alabaster, M.D., Director of the institute for Disease Prevention, George Washington University, Washington, D.C.
John D. Potter, M.D., Ph.D. has some suggestions on how we can maintain control over our health. He writes the following
in February issue of the New England Journal of Medicine:
”There is an interesting dilemma for those who would influence nutrition. In many places in the world, there are governmental
agencies concerned with food security, food safety, agriculture, health, and trade that may, from time to time, implement policies
that are at least intended to reduce the risk of chronic diseases. Most often, when the goals of agriculture and human health clash, it
is the will of the agriculture sector that prevails (remember the European Union's ‘butter mountain’ and ‘wine lake’?). In the United
States, perhaps more than anywhere else, this has left an opening for self-help nutrition books. In a land where individuality and
self-reliance are valued above many other virtues and where disease is sometimes seen to be a mark of personal failure, gaining
access to the best data on health-related food consumption may be central to maintaining control over one's health.”
#1 cause of death
So what is the #1 cause of death today if it’s not heart disease? It is lack of information! Armed with the right knowledge we can
live a healthy and rewarding life and avoid deadly diseases that threaten our chance of living life to the fullest. There are numerous
resources available for us to learn about optimum nutrition and holistic living. There are thousands of books and videos on the subject
nd also some wonderful home-study programs. These programs serve not only to improve the quality of your life but also place a
powerful tool in your hands with which to help others. Taking a course in nutrition can save you a lot of time in doing your own
research as it already encompasses the most important and most up-to-date information in this field.
The question, therefore, is not whether you can afford to invest time and money into learning about nutrition and healthy living. The
real question is: Can you afford not to?
Isn’t a lifetime of sickness and suffering too high of a price to pay for lack of information? In my opinion, if the doctors of today
don’t become nutritionists, then the nutritionists will become the doctors of tomorrow.
HEALTH TIPS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
PROTECT YOUR FACE AND SAVE YOUR MONEY!
Your face is part of your body's largest organ--your skin and the skin is a living, breathing organ that is constantly
renewing itself. You wouldn't expose an organ like your heart to harsh chemicals, right? Why expose your face?
You probably didn't even know that many of the skin careproducts you use on your face every day have harsh
chemicals that erode your skin.
The average turn around for skin cells is about 28 days. A skin cell starts its life deep in the inner layers of our skin
It is round and plump and full of moisture. As it ages it migrates to the outer layer, flattens out a bit and
eventually sloughs off naturally. While it is a part of the outer layer it helps form a protective moisture barrier for
its younger brothers still in their infancy and adolescence.
Baby boomers are reaching middle age and are starting to notice the signs of aging in their faces. What to do?
Reach for that miracle cream you purchased that promises you'll look years younger. Unfortunately, as with many
cosmetics, these miracles in a jar have slipped past the rigorous testing procedures afforded to drugs and food
additives when, in fact, if they actually did what they claimed they should have by definition been regulated
as drugs.
For example, Tretinoin (Retin-A) is a vitamin derivative. It was used as a prescription drug for the treatment of acne.
Later it was found to plump up the skin and eliminate small wrinkles. Several manufactures began promoting
the inclusion of vitamin A in their formulations claiming it was producing similar effects as Retin-A. Studies in the
1980's showed there were some subtle changes to skin with Tretinoin. (Allure magazine, Nov. 1991, Journal of
American Academy of Dermatology, August, 1991) Others disagreed with findings saying that the reason it
seemed to work was because it literally irritates the outer layer of the skin to such a degree that it swells or puff's up,
reducing wrinkles.
When fruit acids or Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA) hit the market, in 1990 there were 5 AHA products on the market,
one was by prescription. By 1993, there were 50 and by 1994 over 200 new products were on the market. In
January and February of 1995 alone there were 32 new products containing AHA introduced into the marketplace.
AHA's claims that by gently removing the dead skin cells our skin will look healthier and feel smoother. When Dr.
John Bailey, acting director of FDA's office of Cosmetics and Colors, spoke at the Sixth Annual Spring Seminary of
Society of Cosmetic Chemists in New York, in April, 1994, he warned that AHA had clearly stepped over the
boundary line between what is considered a drug as opposed to a cosmetic. His concerns were with the
application of the higher percentage solutions being used today, as much as 50% by non-professionals and
people with less than adequate training.
As of 1993, the FDA didn't require companies to list percentages of concentrations of fruit acids in their
products. What the AHA proponents are saying is remove the outer layer of the skin to decrease signs of aging and
to give skin a general appearance of smoothness, right? But what about the people that say that very same outer
layer of skin is what protects us from moisture loss and signs of aging. If you are confused about this you're
certainly not alone. In an article in Self magazine on moisturizers and your skin, the first part of the article
states that new moisturizers with lipids that mimic your own skin's lipids are beneficial because they build up
and bind skin together forming a protective barrier against moisture loss. Lipids are actually described as the "glue
that holds the skin together." Next comes a section on AHA's that say they're beneficial because they act as an
exfoliant and dissolve the "intercellular glue" between dead cells, peeling them away to real softer, smoother
skin. (Self, August, 1995, page 107-108) Wait a minute! Isn't that the same protective barrier we just glued
together to prevent moisture loss? It seems everywhere we look a different group is telling us to do something
different to our skin.
Some of the worst things in your moisturizer may include petrolatum, mineral oil, isopropyl myristate, trietholamine,
glycerin and propylene glycol. All of these ingredients may clog your pores and smother your skin's respiration:
and in no way do these ingredients benefit your skin.
PROPYLENE GLYCOL - This is the most common moisture carrying vehicle in use in cosmetics. It's cheap and
available. It has also been suspected of causing sensitivity reactions. It in fact absorbs moisture from your skin.
Propylene glycol is also used extensively in industry as a component of brake fluids and anti-freeze preparations.
It's also used in the production of varnishes.
EXFOLIANTS disrupt the natural order of things when they remove adult skin cells and leave those below open
to premature exposure to the environment. Without the adult cells the immature cells can dry out and age more
rapidly than is natural.
The BENTONITE MINERAL AND KAOLIN CLAY in facial masks dries out your skin and forms an impenetrable
barrier. This barrier traps toxins, including carbon dioxide, in your skin and keeps oxygen out. If your skin can't
breathe, it can't stay healthy.
ALCOHL, the main ingredient in astringents and several other facial cleansers, makes your face feel cool and
refreshed, but it is really damaging your skin. As it cleans, it strips away the natural oils protecting your face. After
the skin's surface has been stripped, it takes almost twenty-four hours for it to repair itself. Your face needs moisture
to stay healthy and young-looking, not harsh chemicals.
Liquid foundations often contain MINERAL OIL, a substance that suffocates and dries out your face. They usually also
have PETROLATUM AND ISOPROPYL MYRISTATE in them. Petrolatum can't be absorbed by the skin and it clogs pores.
Isopropyl myristate is a fatty compound that has been shown to clog pores and cause blackheads and pimples
also has a more sinister hidden danger. When it comes in contact with either a Di-or Triethanolamine the result is a
nitrate compound such as n-nitrosodiethanolamine, a suspected carcinogen. Moisturizers for the face and body
are applied over a large portion of the skin and remain there for several hours. This exposure is significant. Many
powder foundations have talc and zinc stearate, both of which are carcinogenic (cause cancer). Most blushes
contain mineral oil, talc, and zinc stearate.
GLYCERIN, although this ingredient is used in moisturizers to help the cream glide, it is detrimental in that it draws
moisture from the skin and holds it on the surface, effectively drying the skin from the inside out.
Have you ever wondered why men seem to age more gracefully than women. Their skin is less likely to suffer
from over cleansing and drying because they do not as a rule buy into these skin care fads. Perhaps it is not just
the so-called thicker skin. Perhaps it is what we have been doing to our skin that is making the biggest
difference in both its structure and ability to stay healthy and young looking.
When it comes right down to it, the giant skin care and cosmetic companies are charging you big bucks to ruin
your face. Don't let them keep selling you treatments for problems their own products cause. Become aware of the
ingredients in their products and their side effects. Don't let big business take advantage of you.
