Hello Internet Marketer, I hope this newsletter finds you in good health and looking forward to the start of the holiday season. I'm sorry I have not been publishing. What started out as a major computer breakdown traversed along to our oldest being in a car accident that left with a broken neck and to top that off my hubby had to go overseas for a while. So please forgive me for my abrupt leaving. However, things are getting back to normal now and I will return to publishing twice a week. I still have a list of ads that need to be published. As a bonus for you to stay with me and forgive my absence, you may go to the following link to send in a new ad. Go to http://www.magnoliawalker.com/f_a_f_s/subscriber-free-ads.html Would you do me a favor? I would like to get a few opinions on it's layout. If you are interested in viewing and critiquing, email me here: mailto:webmaster@magnoliawalker.com?subject=Critique-Site . May God bless each and everyone of you. Sincerely, Janet Bullard |

Five Tips for Internet Marketing Success By Scott Buresh Do you view your website as an expense or as an investment? Surprisingly, many companies seem to view their website as a necessary cost of doing business, not an opportunity to attract an audience and gain new customers. The following five tips can help transform a non-performing website into an effective sales and marketing tool. 1. Make sure potential customers can find you on the search engines. Most businesses don't take advantage of search engine optimization, but few things on the Internet can be as beneficial. A recent Forrester Research report showed that 80% of web surfers discover the new sites that they visit through search engines. According to iProspect, 85% of web users use search engines to find solutions and vendors. A properly executed search engine optimization campaign can drive numerous, highly targeted visitors to your site, typically at a fraction of the cost of traditional advertising. Without high search engine rankings, you will only get visitors that find your web address through word of mouth, regular advertising, or other limited means. 2. Use content to get repeat visitors to your site, not flashiness. Rich media, such as flashy graphics and audio, may impress your visitors the first time they see your site, but they are unlikely to come back for it (or recommend your site to others because of it). If repeat visitors (meaning potential customers) are your goal, you are much more likely to get them to return if your site offers content that they find valuable (and with any luck, indispensable). This helps to establish your company as an expert in your field while building a level of trust with your visitors. 3. Develop regular e-newsletters and announcements to inform and keep up to date with current and potential customers (but only those who ask for them). A properly executed newsletter campaign can help your business retain existing customers and attract new ones. Routinely sending out informational content that your newsletter subscribers find valuable is another excellent way to build a level of trust with them while continually establishing yourself as an expert in your product or service area. Over time, your recipients will be increasingly likely to recommend your products or services to others. A newsletter can also be used to announce special promotions and sales. A recent Doubleclick survey of more than 1,000 Internet users found that more than 82 percent of them had made a purchase online during the past year as a result of some sort of advertisement they received through email. The study revealed, however, that people were much more receptive to email from companies with whom they already had a relationship. 4. Make sure your existing marketing materials promote your online presence. Make sure that all of your print advertising; business cards, letterhead, etc. display your web address. In addition, you should mention your website address on your phone message, in the signature of the emails of everyone in your company, and in any radio or television advertising. This simple step can drive a good deal of highly qualified prospects to your site for relatively little cost, but many companies are still using the same marketing materials that they used before they had a website (and missing out on a great opportunity to build traffic). 5. Make sure your website content is focused on your customer's needs and interests, not your company. A common mistake that companies make on the Internet is focusing their Internet marketing text too much upon themselves. Visitors are more interested in learning about how your products or services can benefit them than about hearing about how wonderful you are or learning about the history of your company. Unlike other media, on the Internet you have very little time to communicate your company's unique selling proposition (USP). The most effective websites are those that quickly answer the question "Why do I need this product/service?" Here's a quick test- does your Internet marketing copy use words like "we", "us", and "our" more often than words like "you" and "your"? If so, your copy may be too self-centric. A change in focus would likely help you to better connect with your visitors. Scott Buresh is co-founder and principal of Medium Blue Internet Marketing. 8 Household Cleaners You Need -- and 4 You Don't by Mary Ellen Pinkham Save yourself time and sanity next time you clean the house by using products that will actually make the job easier. Here's a power list of eight must-have cleansers, as well as four that you shouldn't waste your money on. 1. Abrasive cleaner 2. All-purpose cleaner 3. Ammonia 4. Mildew remover 5. Spot cleaner for upholstery and rugs 6. Soap and scum remover 7. Laundry detergent 8. Oven cleaner *Plus, 4 products you shouldn't waste your money on 1. Abrasive cleaner It's not elbow grease you need when you're scrubbing away a clump of burned-on food or dripped soap, it's abrasive power. Plain old baking soda will often do the job, but if you need a little more oomph, you should have Bon Ami in your cleaning closet. Manufacturers of products ranging from cookware to bathroom fixtures recommend it. Unlike more powerful abrasives, it won't scratch. 2. All-purpose cleaner Plain dishwashing detergent and water, mixed in a spray bottle, can do most all-purpose jobs. Don't use too much detergent or the solution gets too sudsy to spray. Also, your local janitorial supply house can supply a good neutral-pH cleaner -- one that isn't too acidic or too alkaline. For kitchen counters, the bathroom sink and other lightly soiled surfaces, mix a quart of water with 1/2 cup of vinegar in a spray bottle and keep it handy. If you have a heavy-duty job, you can use Lestoil or Top Job. For the heaviest-duty jobs, such as cleaning a fireplace, your hardware store can recommend special products. 3. Ammonia Ammonia without suds and without lemon (which causes streaking) makes a great window cleaner. Add a capful or two to a quart of water. 4. Mildew remover In the bathroom, use bleach or Tilex for getting grout clean. 5. Spot cleaner for upholstery and rugs Carbona removes spots and stains on upholstery. I also like Spot Shot for rugs and of course I think my own product, Mary Ellen's Carpet Stain Remover, is fantastic. If you can't find it locally, call (952) 941-1233. 6. Soap and scum remover I like Scrub-Free. I also recommend Clean Shower as a preventative: Mist the shower walls with it and you don't have to rinse, wipe, scrub or squeegee (not recommended for refinished tubs, natural stone or natural marble). 7. Laundry detergent Get the biggest container of Wisk or Tide (my favorites) you can find, then transfer the detergent to a smaller, more manageable container if necessary. I know they've reformulated fabric softener to deal with this problem, but still I find that softener eventually makes towels less absorbent, so I use it only every third or fourth load. I like the concentrated liquid and the Ultra Downy dispenser for top-loading machines without a built-in dispenser. 8. Oven cleaner Easy-Off works the best. If the fumes bother you, use the no-fume formula or try the ammonia treatment I suggested earlier in this list. 4 Products you don't need 1. Antibacterial sprays and soaps From what I understand, the only place where surface bacteria is a problem is in a hospital operating room. Some people (and some studies) have suggested that an excess of antibacterial products in our lives is cutting our natural resistance. Stick with plain old soap and water. Unless Doctors’ orders. 2. Furniture cleaner, polish, wax or oil If your wood furniture has a polyurethane finish, it needs only an occasional dusting. (When? When you notice the dust.) Wipe smudges with a damp but not wet cloth. If you're not sure what kind of finish is on your table, chair or whatever, test with a bit of nail polish remover on a cotton ball in an inconspicuous place. If the cotton softens or sticks to the finish, you may need a cleaner, polish, wax or oil. 3. Drain cleaners For regular maintenance, your best bet is prevention. Pour a half cup of baking soda, then a half cup of vinegar down the drain once a month or so. Rinse with cold water. When a drain is sluggish, first try a plunger. If that doesn't work, buy a biological product at the hardware store; microorganisms eat the organic material that's causing the clog, then are flushed by the drain. 4. Wax and no-wax floor products You don't need these for tile or polyurethane floors. They don't make the floors nicer, they just make them more slippery. They also create a buildup that's a real pain to remove. Another thing to remember is this: Anything that's been sitting around, unused, for a year or more -- throw away! Chances are, you'll never get around to using it, and if you do, it probably won't be effective. Household solutions often lose their potency over time. This is a good time to remind you never to mix chlorine products (bleach, tile cleaner, mildew remover, powdered cleanser) with any product containing ammonia (which may even include some detergents) or any acid. The toxic gases that result can be fatal. ivillige.com - Mary Ellen Pinkham |

How to build up your own Creative Power. by Fernando Soave Copyright © 2003 Here are some ways that have been found helpful to build the creative power of creative thinkers throughout the centuries. 1. Asscociate with children in some of your spare time. Children will give you a new way of looking at things because they take nothing for granted. Every problem they give you from "Why the sky is blue" to "why can't pens have erasers, just like pencils ?" will give you practice in exercising your imagination. If you have children of your own, play with them. Listen to their conversation. 2. Watch for deficiencies in everything that need remedying. The ability to see what needs to be done is the first step in finding solutions for a particular problem. 3. Expose yourself to new sights and sounds. Travel to strange places in your town. Try new restaurants. Travel to a new place on your vacation. We don't see too clearly what's closely by. No matter how many acres of diamonds there are around you in the shape of fruitfull ideas, you 'll probably have fresher thoughts if you go to a new place in town, or on a vacation to a strange town. 4. Always define and narrow your problem as much as you can. If you break down a problem into many small specific component parts, it is easier to solve each small problem to arrive at the solution to the one big problem. 5. Gather facts about your problem. Gathering facts sometimes uncovers the solution. We want the mind to go off on strange, new paths. But it won't if we smother it with too many facts about conventional ways of doing things. Title: Personal Finance 101 Part 3 of 4 Author: David Berky Protection and Management The final level of personal finance is the protection and management of your wealth. Most people never develop wealth enough to need this level. But some of the concepts can be applied to any amount of wealth you possess, $10,000 to $10,000,000. Part of the protection harks back to your will as we discussed on the first personal finance level: security. With any significant wealth or valuable asset (your home, car, heirlooms, 401k, IRA, business, etc.) you will want some way of disposing of that asset upon your death. Whether it is go to go your family, favorite charity, or local church, if no one knows about it, "it ain't gonna happen". As you start to accumulate wealth in excess of $350,000, you may want to consult an attorney about creating a trust. A trust is an entity that can own property and pass that property to anyone you name in your will. Usually the trust is designed to provide income to children from the assets that are placed in the trust. The trust can survive you so that your assets and income may be passed on to your children or next-of-kin without excessive taxation and legal entanglements. Some states will take up to 55% of your assets as taxes when you pass away. Protection also relates back to insurance. Now it may be time to look at a multi-million dollar umbrella policy that will protect you from lawsuits designed to part you and your wealth. You may now be a bigger target, so purchase a suit of armor. The management aspect comes into play where you may start to concern yourself with taxation, ownership, distribution of income and possibly endowments to charities or other non-profit institutions. You may hire a person or company to manage your wealth, or you may choose to do it yourself. Most people who have earned their wealth through the "sweat of their brow" have already become adept at managing their assets. Some continue to personally manage their wealth because of the enjoyment or challenge it gives them. Others are ready to turn it over to a trustworthy manager (who only gets paid a percentage of your increase) and travel the world, or sit on a beach and count the waves. Whatever your dreams for retirement (and why wait until you are 65), understanding the different levels of personal finance and spending the time and resources to educate yourself will pay off whether you live next to Bill Gates or Homer Simpson. ************************************************************ © Simple Joe, Inc. David Berky is president of Simple Joe, Inc. a marketing company that sells simple software under the brand name of Simple Joe. One of Simple Joe's best selling products is: SimpleJoe's Money Tools - a collection of 14 personal finance and investment calculators. |

Health Tip of the Week by Dr. Earl Mindell Is it true that spaghetti sauce can reduce your risk of cancer? Tomato-based products contain the powerful antioxidant, lycopene. Research shows that increasing dietary lycopene levels may be a significant protector against cancer. Studies in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, December, 2002, report that high levels of lycopene are particularly effective in protecting against cancers of the digestive tract, esophagus, and prostate cancer. I recommend that six to seven servings of tomato-based products per week will increase levels of antioxidants and protect against various forms of cancer. ----- Visit http://keith.freelife.com to learn more about how Dr. Earl Mindell can help you get into the best shape of your life. |
